1. About These Terms
These Terms & Conditions govern access to and use of the website at geoeconcentre.org, including its pages, analyses, publications, programmes, forms and Partner Portal. The website is operated by the Centre for Geopolitics & Economic Intelligence (the Centre or CGEI), a public-interest organisation concerned with geopolitical and economic inquiry. By using the website, you agree to observe these Terms. If you access the website on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.
2. Purpose of the Website
The website presents the Centre’s research, analyses, programmes and perspectives. It also provides facilities through which visitors, contributors, partners and authorised representatives may communicate with the Centre or gain access to designated resources. The publication of information on the website does not create a partnership, advisory relationship, fiduciary duty, representation or endorsement between the Centre and any visitor, organisation or person mentioned in its content.
3. Other Applicable Documents
The Privacy Policy explains how the Centre handles personal data. The Cookie Policy explains the use of cookies and related technologies. The Accessibility Statement describes the Centre’s approach to accessible digital services. A programme, partnership or other engagement may be governed by separate written terms. Where separate terms have been agreed, they will apply accordingly.
4. Responsible Use
You may use the website for lawful research, educational, professional, policy and personal purposes.
You must not:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to an account, file, database or restricted area;
- interfere with the operation, availability or security of the website;
- introduce malicious code, harmful files or other content intended to damage or disrupt a system;
- obtain website content through automated extraction contrary to the Centre’s technical instructions;
- use the Centre’s name, identity or publications to suggest an endorsement that has not been given;
- misrepresent, distort or remove qualifications from an analysis in a manner that changes its meaning;
- upload information that you are not authorised to provide;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality or other rights; or
- use the website for an unlawful, misleading or fraudulent purpose.
The Centre may restrict access where this is required to protect the website, its users, its partners or information entrusted to it.
5. Research, Analyses and Publications
The Centre’s analyses and publications are provided for information, inquiry and discussion. They may examine geopolitical, economic, legal, technological, sectoral or policy developments. Unless expressly stated in a separate mandate, the content is not prepared according to the circumstances or requirements of any particular reader. It does not constitute investment, financial, legal, tax, medical or other regulated professional advice. Evidence, data and conditions may change after publication. Sources may also be revised, corrected, translated or contested. Forecasts, scenarios and assessments express judgement according to the information and assumptions identified at the relevant time. They do not constitute assurances about future events.
6. Accuracy and Corrections
The Centre seeks to present its research and information with care. It does not warrant that every page, source or output will remain complete, current or free from error. The Centre may correct, revise, replace, archive or withdraw content when new evidence, an error or another reason requires it. The absence of an immediate revision does not mean that previously published information remains current. A suspected error may be reported through the Contact page.
7. Intellectual Property
Unless another owner is identified, the website and its original text, analyses, reports, graphics, visualisations, designs, logos and other content belong to the Centre or are used with permission. Visitors may read, download or print publicly available content for personal, educational, research or internal organisational reference. Limited extracts may be quoted for criticism, review, scholarship, teaching, journalism or policy discussion where permitted by law.
Any quotation or reference must:
- identify the Centre for Geopolitics & Economic Intelligence as the publisher;
- identify the title and publication date;
- reproduce the passage accurately;
- retain any qualification necessary to understand it; and
- identify the original website page where possible.
Permission is not granted to reproduce an entire publication, remove attribution, alter a publication and present it as the Centre’s analysis, sell copies, create a competing output or use restricted content without authorisation. Requests for further permission may be submitted through the Contact page.
8. The Centre’s Name and Identity
The names “Centre for Geopolitics & Economic Intelligence” and “CGEI”, together with the Centre’s logo and visual identity, may not be used in a manner that implies approval, sponsorship, representation or association without prior written permission.
9. Programmes, Convenings and Fellowships
Information about programmes, convenings, fellowships and other Centre activities is published for general guidance. Publication of an activity does not guarantee admission, selection, participation or availability. Expressions of interest and applications may be considered according to the purpose and requirements of the relevant programme. The Centre may request further information where this is necessary to assess eligibility or administer participation.
10. Partner Portal Access
The Partner Portal is reserved for organisations and representatives authorised by the Centre. Portal credentials must be kept secure and must not be shared. An authorised user must notify the Centre promptly if credentials may have been compromised, if access has been assigned incorrectly or if the user is no longer entitled to represent the relevant organisation.
The Centre may suspend, amend or withdraw access where:
- the user is no longer authorised;
- credentials have been shared or compromised;
- access presents a security or confidentiality risk;
- information has been used outside its authorised purpose; or
- suspension is required by law or by an applicable agreement.
11. Confidential Information
Information available through the Partner Portal may include correspondence, requests, draft documents, partner records, reports and other information that is not intended for public distribution. Authorised users must keep such information confidential and use it only for the purpose for which access was granted. It must not be disclosed to an unauthorised person. Any separate confidentiality provision agreed between the Centre and a partner will continue to apply. Information does not become confidential merely because it appears within the Portal if it was already lawfully public, was independently obtained without restriction or must be disclosed under applicable law.
12. Information Submitted to the Centre
You remain responsible for information and documents that you submit through the website. You should submit only information that is relevant to the enquiry or request. You must have the authority to provide it and must not knowingly submit information that is unlawful, misleading, malicious or subject to a restriction that prevents the Centre from receiving it. The Centre may receive, store, review and use submitted information to answer the enquiry, administer the relevant programme or relationship, protect website security, comply with law or exercise its legal rights. The Centre may reject or quarantine a file that presents a security, legal or operational risk.
13. External Websites and Sources
The website may identify publications, data, commentary or services provided by other organisations. These references are provided for research, attribution or convenience. Their inclusion does not necessarily imply that the Centre agrees with every view expressed by the external organisation. The Centre does not control the availability, security, accessibility, accuracy or privacy practices of an external website. Visitors should examine the terms and policies of the external provider when leaving the Centre’s website.
14. Website Availability and Security
The Centre seeks to keep the website available and secure but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or compatibility with every device, browser or assistive technology. Access may be temporarily restricted for maintenance, correction, security protection or technical reasons. Public features may also be revised or discontinued when the Centre considers this appropriate.
15. Responsibility and Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including responsibility for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or death or personal injury caused by negligence. The Centre is not responsible for a decision made solely in reliance on general website content where the content was not prepared for the reader’s particular circumstances. The Centre is not responsible for an external website, an interruption outside its control, unauthorised use of a user’s credentials or information supplied by a third party, except to the extent that responsibility arises from the Centre’s own breach of duty. Any responsibility arising under a separately agreed mandate, programme or partnership document will be determined according to that document and applicable law.
16. Suspension of Access
The Centre may restrict or withdraw access where a user breaches these Terms, misuses restricted information, interferes with website security, loses the authority required for access or creates a legal or security risk. Where circumstances permit, the Centre will use a proportionate response and may give the affected user an opportunity to address the issue. Withdrawal of access does not remove obligations concerning intellectual property, confidentiality or the use of information already obtained.
17. Privacy and Cookies
Personal data submitted through the website is handled according to the Privacy Policy. The use of cookies and related technologies is addressed in the Cookie Policy. Acceptance of these Terms does not amount to consent to every form of personal data processing. Where consent is required, it will be requested separately and may be withdrawn in accordance with the applicable notice.
18. Changes to These Terms
The Centre may revise these Terms when the website, its activities, legal or security requirements change. The revised version will be published on this page with an updated effective date or review date. A change affecting authenticated Portal users may also be communicated through the Portal or by email. A revision to these website Terms will not alter a separately signed agreement without the agreement required under that document or by law.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes concerning use of the website will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable law provides a user with a right to bring proceedings in another jurisdiction. Before commencing proceedings, the parties are encouraged to attempt to resolve the matter through mutual communication where this is appropriate.
20. Contact
Questions about these Terms & Conditions may be submitted through the Contact page or sent by email to webmaster@geoeconcentre.org.
